Who I Am

I’ve worn a lot of hats.

In fact, I still wear many of them.

From psychologist to engineer, then on to human resources as an org development leader, then back to engineering and a director-level leadership position, I’ve developed a unique perspective on workplace effectiveness and personal fulfillment.

I’ve lived in Indiana my entire life, currently on the south side of Indianapolis with my wife and our three teenage sons. But I’ve taken every opportunity to try to experience as much of the world as possible. From three of the four corners of the continental US (I’ll get to the Pacific northwest — hopefully soon!), to Europe, South America, India, and China, my work and personal travels have helped me learn beyond my own personal Hoosier state borders. Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand are top on my list — they will all happen eventually!

Regardless of where I’ve been or what I’m doing, one aspect of my life and work has remained a constant.

Coaching.

I get such fulfillment from helping others achieve their potential.

I believe we all deserve the opportunity to participate and engage fully in our work, and that we can get closer to self-actualization when our work and personal lives are in harmony. But there are barriers.

Sometimes, we put up those barriers ourselves. Sometimes, those barriers are outside of us, in the form of poor leadership or toxic managers, biased environments and unfair systems.

Sometimes barriers need to be pushed right through. Sometimes they need to be worked around. Sometimes they need to be removed.

In most cases, the coaching and training that I provide can help. I’m particularly experienced and adept with connecting technically-minded managers and leaders to the soft skills and behaviors that can take them from good to great. Often, the cliche “what got you here won’t get you there” applies, and I’m able to help define and encourage the things that do indeed “get you there”.

If you have a barrier that you’re not quite sure what to do with, either personal or organizational, I’d love to talk with you about it. Maybe I can help.
